This country’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Simone Keizer Beache during her appearance on VC3’s Roundtable Talk last week, in response to a question from a viewer explained why enforcement of and compliance with the current COVID-19 protocols is what is needed, not new protocols.

“We have a lot of protocols, a lot of regulations in place; we need enforcement and we need compliance; and we need not to be persons who need to have somebody with a stick behind you to make sure you do this”. The CMO said.

Dr. Keizer Beache then went on to speak on how all Vincentians are feeling the harsh effects of the COVID-19 pandemic; however she highlighted, in particular the hardships that the nation’s children have faced.

“We are all being affected by this; our children have not been in face to face learning for so long. We have children who are going into primary school for the first time, we have children in grade 5 and grade 6, we have children going to form 1 for the first time, children who should be in fifth form are getting ready for their CXC exams, children who should be in community college”. The CMO said.

She pointed out that the only way for us to get back to some form of normalcy is to comply with protocols currently in place.
