Thornley Myers – Chief Executive Officer of the St. Vincent Electricity Services Ltd (VINLEC) has hailed the launch of the National geothermal project a mile stone, in the ongoing thrust to reduce the cost of electricity here.

The Project is now a critical phase of the start of initial drilling exercises at the sighted Bamboo range.

Mr. Myers made the comment while speaking at the ceremony held on Monday, to officially mark the start of initial drilling.

During his address, he highlighted the strides made over the years, in the provision of electricity in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Myers said geothermal energy provides a good opportunity to reduce the cost of electricity.
