Persons here are being encouraged to remain prepared and alert in the event of an emergency, as we are currently within the Atlantic hurricane season.

This advice comes from Tamara Job-Sprott, Communications Officer at the St. Vincent Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC).

The hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30 and according to Mrs. Job-Sprott maintaining a level of preparedness is all the more important given that we have just recently entered what is considered the more active latter period of the hurricane season.

Mrs. Job-Sprott outlined certain key items that people should try to have in their possession in event of a hurricane or tropical storm.

Among these she said includes canned foods, battery-powered radio, as well as flashlight and batteries.
