Persons here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines are being encouraged to get tested so as to know their HIV/AIDS status.

This appeal comes as the National AIDS Secretariat within the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment rolls out its activities to commemorate World AIDS Day 2018.

This year’s theme for World AIDS Day, which will be marking its 30th anniversary on December 1, will be “Know your status” with the local slogan “Get up and get tested.”

Mrs. Ferosa Roache, Director of the HIV/AIDS Unit speaking this morning at a ceremony at Frenches House to launch the week of activities for World AIDS Day said that there is still a vital need for persons to get tested and improve their knowledge about HIV and AIDS.

Mrs. Roache said that St. Vincent and the Grenadines has made progress in the AIDS response since the first HIV case was diagnosed here in 1984.
