Vincentian Artiste Lornette “Fyah Empress” Nedd has expressed shock and disappointment at reports being circulated via electronic and social media, following her decision not to perform at the New Democratic Party (NDP) Youth rally in Barrouallie last Saturday evening.

In a statement released yesterday, Fya Empress said that at the beginning of the week of November 23rd she was contacted by Vynette Fredrick, on behalf of the New Democratic Party (NDP), and was asked whether she would be interested in appearing at a Youth Rally in St. Vincent on Saturday November 28th.

She was subsequently contacted by Jamron Delpeche, on behalf of the NDP and an agreement was reached on an appearance fee and accommodation, however, she chose to make alternate accommodation with family.

She noted that each appearance she makes involves a contract, but up to Friday, November 27th, no contract from the NDP was forthcoming although advertisements including reference to her scheduled appearance were being broadcast via radio and Internet.

Fya Empress, who left the state on Monday, said she made a personal and principled decision not to perform and informed the NDP 24 hours before appearance time. She also made a refund to the NDP on Monday November 30th for the airline ticket which cost approximately EC$1,300.
