The mission to target Islamic State militants in Syria could take “some time” and will require persistence, UK Prime Minister David Cameron has said.

According to a report by BBC News the Ministry of Defence confirmed, that Royal Air Force (RAF) Tornados carried out their first air strikes in Syria, “successfully” targeting Islamic State-controlled oil fields.

But the Prime Minister warned the operation would be complex and will require patience.

Members of Parliament overwhelmingly backed UK military action against Islamic State, by 397 votes to 223, after a 10-hour Commons debate on Wednesday.
