Jamaica’s Health Ministry has placed two more St Thomas communities under two-week quarantine as part of an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19.

According to the ministry, since 5 o’clock this morning, the communities of Albion and Seaforth have been under quarantine, restricting movement in and out of the areas after 13 positive COVID cases were detected there in the past three weeks.

“Many of the cases are symptomatic, which is a cause for concern and suggests
that there may be ongoing transmission in the communities,” said a ministry spokesperson in a release.

For the past two weeks, the St Thomas communities of Bamboo River, Church Corner and Lower Summit have been under quarantine, set to be lifted on September 2.
