Three people, including a senior citizen, died after fire gutted their home in the rural community of Carriere, St. Andrew, Grenada on Monday afternoon.

Head of the Community Relations Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force, Trevor Rodney, said the wooden house was destroyed by the time Fire Service officers from the Grenville Police station arrived on the scene.

“Unfortunately, three persons perished. One female senior citizen and two other persons,” he said, without giving further details.

In a video posted on the social network, Facebook, an unidentified woman can be heard screaming for her lost relatives and having to be held back from the police caution line.

According to Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), Grenada Police said they will carry out investigations to determine the cause of the blaze.
