The Customs and Excise Department, in collaboration with the Central Planning and CARICOM Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS), will be hosting an Advanced Cargo Information System, Sensitization Session this afternoon at the Foreign Affairs Conference Room.

ACIS is a management information system designed is to improve transport efficiency, by tracking equipment and cargo, as well as to provide advance information on cargo arrivals.

It also aims at improving quality of logistics services to shippers and forwarders and is expected to play an important role in developing services to shippers and forwarders.

A release from the Customs and Excise Department outlines that the Session will also enable transport operators to communicate over borders, vital information that they require to improve their efficiency, thus reducing costs and time crime of carriage along transport corridors.

Wednesday’s session is funded by the 10th European Development Fund.
