Authorities are testing a water source in a village in the south east of St. Lucia, following the discovery of dead fish.

The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) said the water supply to Micoud had been compromised and the Water Resource Management Agency  and the Environmental Health Branch of the Ministry of Health has been informed of the discovery of the dead fish in the river source within their watershed, for their immediate investigation.

“WASCO is itself conducting detailed water tests to determine the contaminants which may have led to the death of the fish and crayfish,” the water company added in a statement.

Once the results of the tests are obtained, WASCO said a determination would be made on the next course of action.
