A set of Woodwork and Electrical equipment has been procured under a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Development Project, supported by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).

The equipment has been placed at the Community College Division of Technical Education, the Technical Institutes in Barrouallie, Campden Park, Kingstown and Georgetown, as well as the Bequia Community High School, the Adult Education Centre in Glen and Her Majesty’s Prison in Kingstown.

Technical Education instructors from these institutions were a part of the installation process and underwent training to operate and maintain the hand tools and heavy machines.

Kenroy Questelles, attached to the National Qualifications Department in the Ministry of Education, says the equipment should enhance the delivery of competency-based training and assessment.

The TVET Development Project forms part of the ANEW programme, launched in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in 2016 to further provide access to TVET for workforce development.

Timothy Scott, officer in the Project Implementation Unit of the Ministry of Education, explained that the procurement of tools and equipment for Technical Institutions is just one aspect of the project.

The equipment was supplied by Sotex International, whose representatives provided guidance with installation and training between November 22 and December 3.
