Throughout the month of November, almost 800 scholarships will be officially awarded to students under the Taiwanese Human Resource Development Programme.

This investment, valued at over 500,000 EC dollars, represents about 95% increase over the number of scholarships presented in 2016.

The Human Resource Development Scholarships provide support for students at the primary, secondary and post-secondary levels.

Receiving awards this year are 345 primary school students, 336 secondary and 112 from post secondary institutions.

Since 1998, thousands of Vincentian students and their families have benefitted from the Taiwanese Human Resource Development Scholarship Programme.

The initiative is based on a Memorandum of Understanding between the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The first presentation ceremony takes place from 1:30 this afternoon at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown.
