St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ number of Dengue fever cases has now hit 655. This information comes from this nation’s Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves while speaking on radio on Wednesday.

“The number of laboratory confirmed cases at the moment stands at 655, basically divided almost evenly between male and female, but the interesting issue to show here is that those under 15 make up 53% of laboratory confirmed cases, so the children and young persons.”

Gonsalves went on to discuss areas of SVG with higher rates of infections as well as those with lower rates.

“The area which shows the highest rate of infection, the Pembroke area, had close to 1/3 of them, 30%. The Kingstown area, 21 ½ %. Calliaqua and Georgetown just about 12%.

To date, the number of deaths in St. Vincent and the Vincent Grenadines resulting from Dengue fever remains at 5.
