The Chief Executive Officer of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA) says while there has been some success with the implementation of the Tourism Standards which seeks to improve the overall quality of the local tourism product, many persons are still non- compliant.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Glen Beache said the SVGTA will be getting tough on those who do not conform to the minimum standards which were passed in Parliament two years ago.

Mr. Beache said the enforcement of the tourism standards applies not only to accommodations, but also taxi drivers and tour guides.

Mr. Beache further noted that the SVG Tourism Authority is looking this year to introduce a rating system in the tourism sector, but is still debating which particular type of rating system it should employ.
