The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Rural Transformation, Industry and Labour will be hosting the First Business Round Table of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Agriculture Competitiveness (AGRICOM) project next week.

The objective of the project is to enhance access to markets and sales for competitively selected farmers and fishers, as well as their allied aggregators and agro-processors.

The project’s approach consists of improving small scale producers’ access to markets, using the private sector as a vehicle to align smallholder production with market demand in terms of quantity, quality, and timeliness.

By so doing the project can contribute to reducing the reliance on import, particularly in the tourism industry, while at the same time, increasing exports.

The meeting is scheduled to be held on Wednesday June 13, 2018.
