The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Teachers Union (SVGTU) has reaffirmed its commitment to defending its members and the interest of the Union.

Industrial Relations and Research Officer at the SVGTU, Mr. Otto Sam speaking at a press conference at the Union’s headquarters at McKie’s Hill, yesterday, said that one area of concern to the Union is the failure of the government to appoint teachers to their appropriate grades.

In relation to the recent appointment of just over 100 graduate teachers, Mr. Sam said the Union is not fully satisfied with this process.

Meanwhile, President of the SVGTU, Oswald Robinson said the Teachers Union has written the Service Commission requesting a list of the graduate teachers who have been appointed this year.
