Newly re-elected Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr Ralph Gonsalves said this country would not consider any Citizen by Investment Programme (CIP), while he is the leader.

Speaking with on the Antigua-based OBSERVER AM, just hours after he won a historic fourth term in office, following the general elections on Wednesday, Dr. Gonsalves said St Vincent and the Grenadines’ passports are not for sale.

“Citizen is the highest office in the land, higher than that of the Office of the Prime Minister and the Governor General. It is not a commodity for sale and the passport is the outward sign of grace of citizenship and it is also not to be traded,” Dr. Gonsalves is quoted as saying.

The governments of Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Lucia have, to date earned millions through their respective citizenship by investment programmes, through which citizenship is conferred on applicants who invest monies into the economies.
