The government and people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines are opposed to slavery in all its dimensions, including human trafficking.

This was clearly stated by the Director Of public Prosecutions (DPP) Colin Williams as he delivered the keynote address yesterday at the opening of a two day training session on combating human trafficking, that is taking place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Conference room.

The training seminar entitled “A victim centered approach to combating the phenomenon” is being attended by persons from law enforcement, the Public and Private Sector and Non- governmental organizations.

Mr. Williams said that given St. Vincent and the Grenadines own historical experiences, the government and people of this nation has an instinctive resentment to human trafficking.

The DPP noted however, that given the porous nature of our borders, challenges arise when it comes to addressing the issue of trafficking in various forms.
