Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves says this country must maintain high standards in respect to Civil Aviation Security.

He made the point while presenting the Civil Aviation (Amendment) Bill in parliament on Tuesday.

The Bill, relating to Civil Aviation Security was among three piece of legislation passed in parliament earlier this week.

Prime Minister Gonsalves explained that St. Vincent and the Grenadines has category one status in the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA).

He said this status was gained due to the regime which is in place in the law and the institutional arrangements which exist so that we are at a particular standard.

The other Bills passed in Parliament this week were the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill, and the Economic Diversification Loan Authorisation (No.2) (Amendment) Bill.

Parliament has been suspended until Tuesday July 18, 2017 at 9:00am.
