A consultation with all the various stakeholders connected with the regional airline, LIAT, was held in St. Vincent and the Grenadines yesterday.

The shareholders were expected to talk about the varying roles of stakeholders and the private sector, as well as a number of options intended to secure the future viability of the carrier.

Speaking to reporters after the consultation, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said that having considered the technical committee report on LIAT, the shareholders have adopted as being most viable, one of the three restructuring options for the airline that was proposed and which has support of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).

Dr. Gonsalves said that whatever is done with regard to a restructuring plan for LIAT in order make the airline more sustainable, there needs to be support from the varying stakeholders including the Board, management, shareholders, trade unions and workers.
