The government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines this morning officially endorsed the CariSECURE Project Caribbean Citizen Security Toolkit.

The Strengthening Evidenced Based Decision Making for Citizen Security in the Caribbean – (CariSECURE) Project is a United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded project which is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Established on July 14, 2016, CariSECURE aims to strengthen the capacity of regional and national institutions in 10 Caribbean countries to collect, analyze and use citizen security data for evidence-driven crime prevention.

The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines officially endorsed CariSECURE on February 24, 2017.

Addressing today’s endorsement ceremony at the Beachcombers Hotel Ms. Chisa Mikami, Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Barbados and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) said Prime Minister Gonsalves is the first Prime Minister from the Caribbean to endorse the CariSECURE Toolkit.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister and Minister of National Security Dr. Ralph Gonsalves thanked the UNDP and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for their involvement with St. Vincent and the Grenadines in this project.

Dr. Gonsalves also announced the members of the Task Force.
