The government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be signing an important agreement tomorrow June 23, 2018 with Rainforest Seafoods of Jamaica.

Rainforest Seafoods is the Caribbean’s largest processor and supplier of premium quality seafood.

According to Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, Rainforest Seafoods intends to construct a state-of-art conch, lobster and fish processing/packaging facility valued at 3.5 million US dollars.

Speaking this morning here on WEFM radio, Dr. Gonsalves said construction of the facility is expected to span a 16-months period.

The Prime Minister said Rainforest Seafoods anticipates having annual exports worth US $7.5 million.

Meanwhile, Dr. Gonsalves said he is aware of comments by some persons who have downplayed the coming on stream of this venture by Rainforest Seafoods.

He explained that contrary to what is being said by some, Rainforest Seafoods will not be engaged in the fishing for conchs, lobsters and fish, but instead will be buying these seafood from fisherfolks.

Tomorrow’s signing ceremony will take place at the Argyle International Airport from 11:00am.
