Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves says discussions are being held between the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and US Officials regarding an incident here that led to U.S. Peace Corps volunteers having been removed from St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Speaking earlier today on WEFM’s Morning Program, the Prime Minister said local police conducted investigations into the alleged incident of concern that led to US authorities taking the decision to relocate the Peace Corps volunteers.

While not divulging information about the exact incident that was under investigation, the Prime Minister said that two officials of the US Embassy were in state recently.

He noted that in due course the respective governments may decide to make appropriate statements on the matter.

The Peace Corps is a volunteer program run by the United States government.

The stated mission of the Peace Corps includes providing technical assistance, helping people outside the United States to understand American culture, and helping Americans to understand the cultures of other countries.
