Diplomatic relations between St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Federative Republic of Brazil have gone a step further with the signing of a Technical Cooperation Agreement earlier today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Conference Room.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sir Louis Straker signed on behalf of the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, while, His Excellency Antonio Jose Rezende de Castro, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to St. Vincent and the Grenadines signed on behalf of his government.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sandy Peters-Phillips said this technical cooperation agreement commits both countries to work more closely towards their common goals, and the strengthening of bilateral relations.

Ambassador de Castro said the agreement signed today is the first step toward strengthening and deepening cooperation between both countries giving them the necessary legal framework to contribute more objectively and immediately to the economic and social development of the nations people.

Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sir Louis Straker said St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Federative Republic of Brazil have had amicable relations since the early 1980s and over the years the two countries have made meaningful strides to intensify and solidify relations in the spirit of cooperation, development, solidarity and territorial integrity.
