Students in St. Vincent and the Grenadines have been given the go ahead to wear long pants and long sleeved shirts in order to protect themselves from mosquito bites.

This country’s Minister of Education St. Clair “Jimmy” Prince said that the recommendation had been made this country’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Simone Keizer Beache and that the ministry has chosen to accept it.

Minister Prince stressed the fact that the wearing of long sleeved shirts and long pants is a recommendation and is not mandatory.

On Tuesday at a press briefing at Cabinet Room, the CMO said the ministry of health had written to the ministry of education recommending that they consider allowing students to wear long pants and long sleeves so that they would decrease their exposure to mosquito bites.
