St. Lucia’s Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has expressed gratitude for the seasonal farm workers programme in Canada, which provides employment to several Saint Lucians.

“We continue to express our gratitude to the Canadian Authorities, Farm Owners, the Eastern Caribbean Liaison Service and all other stakeholders who continue to make these opportunities possible,” Chastanet stated.

His statement came as 52 more Saint Lucians left on Thursday for Canada under the seasonal employment programme.

The departures bring the total of Saint Lucians employed under the programme in Canada this season to 128. They will be employed on farms in various Canadian provinces for a period of two years.
