Six students have been selected to represent their receptive secondary schools in the finals of the Lions Club South/FLOW sponsored National Secondary School Public speaking competition.

They were selected following presentations from sixteen students at four preliminaries held during the period September 25 to October 1, 2018.

The finalists are: Laron Jones of St. Vincent Grammar School, Fitz-ria Morgan-Bishops College Kingstown, Kayde Nero-Georgetown Secondary School, Kerisha Castello -St. Joseph’s Convent Mesopotamia, Desra Da Silva- J.P. Eustace Memorial Secondary School and Eric Freeman of George Stephens Secondary School.

The topic for debate is: “The politics of decriminalizing marijuana far outweigh the medicinal and economic benefits. Yet, the silence of our church leaders.”

The finals will be held at the Kingstown Methodist Church Hall on Wednesday October 24, 2018 starting at 7:00 pm.
