World Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce yesterday broke a 25-year-old meet record set by former compatriot Merlene Ottey, after she clocked 10.98 seconds to win the women’s 100metre at the 29th Meeting Citta (cheta) di Padova in Italy.

Fraser-Pryce, who ended her season after winning two gold medals, retaining the women’s 100metre and was part of the winning Jamaican women’s 4x100metre team at the World Championships in Beijing, China, erased the 10.99 seconds which was set by Ottey on September 16th, 1990.
