The Barbados Police Service (BPS) has reported a mass casualty road collision resulted in seventeen people being injured yesterday morning.
According to BPS, the collision occurred about 8:40 am along the Belle Road at its junction with Barker Road, St Michael. As a result seventeen persons were injured.
Police stated that eight persons were transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, seven to Fast Track at the Sir Winston Scott Polyclinic and two were treated at the scene and discharged.
They noted that medical personnel have described the injuries as non-life threatening.
“Investigations revealed that the route taxi was traveling from the city towards Norman Niles Roundabout when the pickup exited from Barker Road and the collision occurred,” said police.
In the aftermath of the collision, police notified the public that the section of road between the Norman Niles Roundabout and Barkers Road along the Bell was closed.
