A retired Office Clerk is among two persons, who have been remanded in custody at Her Majesty’s Prisons, after they were charged with deception in obtaining money.

According to police, at 1:00pm on February 9, 2018, Derville Thomas, a 42 year old Unemployed of Biabou and Learie Johnson, a 58 year old Retired Office Clerk of Lowmans Windward were arrested and charged with deception, for dishonestly obtaining the sum of EC$250 in cash, the property of Irma Nanton of Owia.

They were also charged with the theft of EC$2,475 in cash, the property of the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and for conspiring with each other and others to steal EC$2,725 in cash, also the property of the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, at Owia at about 12:15pm on February 7, 2018.

Derville Thomas was also charged on February 9 at 1:00pm for making a false instrument in names of John Lavia (deceased), Clifford Huggins (deceased), Camellia James (deceased), Bernice Cordice (deceased), Thaddeus Baptiste (deceased), Sylvia Roberts (deceased), Jeffery Lavia (deceased) and John Lavia (deceased), which he knew to be false instruments, with the intention to induce Learie Johnson-Boyea, a Retired Clerk of Lowmans Windward to accept them as genuine and by reason of so accepting them to do an act of prejudice the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines at Owia at about 12:15pm on February 7.

Thomas and Johnson both appeared before the Serious Offences Court yesterday February 12, 2018 and were remanded in custody at Her Majesty’s Prisons pending a bail review on February 19, 2018.
