Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves says the changes to the Cabinet of St. Vincent and the Grenadines announced on Friday November 10, is part of the process of ensuring a proper and orderly transition of political power to younger persons.

The Cabinet reshuffle saw Camillo Gonsalves being appointed this country’s Finance Minister, while also continuing as Minister of Economic Planning and Sustainable Development.

The portfolios of Industry, Labour and Bureau of Standards have been assigned to Saboto Caesar in addition to his portfolios as Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Rural Transformation.

Minister of Transport, Works, Urban Development and Local Government, Julian Francis takes on responsibility of Postal Services. While, Minister of Education, Reconciliation and Ecclesiastical Affairs, St. Clair Prince takes on responsibility for Information, which includes the Agency for Public Information (API) and the National Broadcasting Corporation.

Speaking at a Press Conference at Cabinet Room this morning, Prime Minister Gonsalves who continues as Minister of National Security, Air and Sea Port Development, Immigration and Legal Affairs, said that previous political leaders did not adequately prepare for political transition.

Dr. Gonsalves said it is the obligation of a sitting leader to prepare for transition in both the political and administrative sphere.
Prime Minister Gonsalves said that both Camillio Gonsalves and Saboto Caesar are highly trained and bright young men, and he expressed confidence in them, nothing that neither has ever disappointed him in a post to which they were assigned over the years.
