Seasoned wicketkeeper/batsman Denesh Ramdin says he is still hopeful of making a Test comeback, especially after being retained in the West Indies Twenty20 squad for the Rest of the World Eleven fixture in London next month.

The 33-year-old returned to the international side for the first time in 17 months earlier this month, when he toured Pakistan for the historic three-match T20 series in Karachi.

His selection came against the backdrop of his heavy scoring in the first class season when he piled up 799 runs at an average of 61, including three centuries.

And following a decent series against Pakistan, the Trinidadian told the NewsDay he was now eyeing a return to the Test arena, which was his preferred format.

Meanwhile, superstar Chris Gayle dispelled any lingering notions his powers were on the wane by lashing an imperious hundred, to fire Kings 11 Punjab to a 15-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad here Thursday.

The 38-year-old, in his first season with Kings 11 after being released by Royal Challengers Bangalore, ended with an unbeaten 104 from 63 balls as the hosts rattled up 193 for three off their 20 overs.

In reply, Manish Pandey top-scored with 57 while Captain Kane Williamson got 54 but Sunrisers were restricted to 178 for four, to suffer their first defeat of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
