The management and Board of Directors of the Argyle International Airport (AIA) have been working assiduously over the past year to ensure that the proper policies and systems are in place to ensure the viability and success of the Airport.

Garth Saunders, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the AIA, speaking at a rally on Saturday to mark the first year of operations of the Airport said they have recognized the importance of following closely international best practices in safety and security, while at the same time offering the desired level of customer service.

Mr. Saunders said approximately 290 young Vincentian nationals are currently employed at the Argyle International Airport.

He said demonstrating accountability and achieving financial viability are two important objectives of the Board of the AIA.

Mr. Saunders said work is to commence shortly on auditing the first full year of operations of the airport.

This he added will be followed later in the year by the production of the Argyle International Airport’s first annual report to its shareholders and stakeholders.

Meanwhile, Corsel Robertson Deputy Chairman of the AIA in providing a brief history of aviation here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines said this nation has come a long way since 1943 when airport operations started.
