Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves used the platform at the special sitting of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Assembly on the weekend, to thank the Cuban government and people for their tremendous support to CARICOM and the OECS.

The 3rd sitting of the OECS Assembly on Saturday, December 9, 2017, in Antigua was attended by Cuban President Raul Castro, who had also attended and co-chaired the CARICOM-Cuba summit the previous day.

He pledged the continued support and solidarity of the region to Cuba.

Dr. Gonsalves said St. Vincent and the Grenadines is particularly grateful to Cuba for the assistance it has provided in several areas over the years, especially with regard to the construction of the Argyle International Airport.

The OECS Assembly comprises five representatives from the Parliament of each full member state and three from the legislature of each associated member. These representatives must include the head of government and the leader of the opposition.
