Dr. Ralph Gonsalves

The World Paediatric Project (WPP) came in for high praises on Thursday from this country’s Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves for the major contributions it has been making over the years in providing health care to the children of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Eastern Caribbean.

Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, Prime Minister Gonsalves said the WPP is simply “an extra ordinary project.”

He said the World Paediatric Project has offered service from St. Vincent and the Grenadines to children across the Eastern Caribbean, all the way down to Guyana and Suriname, at a cost of over 100 million Eastern Caribbean dollars.

He said they would have done about 7,500 consultations and close to 900 surgical interventions, some 750 of which relate to Vincentians.

The Prime Minister also announced that tomorrow April 7, 2017 the WPP will be handing over a quantity of equipment to the government which will go towards the Paediatric Operating Theatre at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
