Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves today congratulated the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) on its victory, following yesterday’s general election.

The JLP led by Andrew Holness won 33 of the 63 seats, according to the Electoral Commission, with the other 30 seats going to the Peoples National Party (PNP), led by Portia Simpson Miller.

Dr. Gonsalves noted that in recent years several incumbent governments within CARICOM were defeated at the polls, in part due, to them having implemented programs with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
