The ICT sector has been identified as one of the key sectors with potential to accelerate private sector competiveness. The sector has experienced significant progress since 2001. However, existing information on the private sector operators in the local ICT sector is limited and is not readily accessible by businesses and policy makers.

This presents a challenge for effective policy decisions. Therefore, the need for a national ICT Services Suppliers Register, which would provide an indication of the range of services that are currently offered by the ICT services providers and the services that could potentially be offered nationally, regionally and internationally.
