A lockdown of the Port of Spain Prison on Sunday in Trinidad and Tobago may have taken place to prevent the escape of three prisoners this Carnival Weekend.

According to the Trinidad Express, the lockdown was said to have taken place to rid the jail of contraband items.

Over the last four weeks, however, TV6 News has been gathering credible information about an alleged intricate jailbreak plot at the prison, in which three “gang leaders” were planning to escape.

Senior prisons sources said, according to their information, the plan had been hatched in late November.
