Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident which occurred in Diamond, at about 7:55pm on Saturday February 24, 2018 brining the murder count for this year to five.

According to reports, Leslie Ashton, a 38 year-old labourer of Diamond Estate, formerly of South Rivers, was in his car along with two other occupants when two masked assailants opened fire on him.

He received multiple gunshot injuries about his body and succumbed to his injuries on the scene. The other two occupants escaped unharmed.

Police are also investigating a report of a shooting incident made by Atiba Gaymes, a 35 year old Chef of Calder Ridge which occurred at about 9:10am on February 24, 2018.

According to the report, some unknown person or persons damaged the front and back windshield of his motor vehicle PC-152 by shooting at it in a public place to wit Paul’s Avenue Public Road.

Meanwhile, Police arrested and charged Kevin Ashton a 32 year old fisherman of Calliaqua with intent to commit the offence of “murder” on Tank Pemberton a 22 year old labourer of Calliaqua “by stabbing him on his left side of his face and chest with a knife” at Calliaqua at about 7:50 am on February 23.
