Prime Minister Dr. Hon. Ralph Gonsalves has welcomed the petition ruling, handed down yesterday by Acting High court Judge, Justice Stanley John.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the persons involved in the judicial exercise, that lead to the Government’s Victory in the petitions case that challenged the outcome of the vote in two constituencies in the December 2015 General Elections.

“St. Vincent and the Grenadines remain a truly functioning democracy of the highest quality, with an independent Judiciary. Yesterday’s ruling serves as vindication for the former Supervisor of Elections, Sylvia Findlay-Scrubb,” said Dr. Gonsalves on WE FM this morning,

Dr. Gonsalves said, “This woman was subjected to bully boy and bully girl tactics. She was Harassed and defamed. She is a woman of integrity who had given service as a teacher. She rose to become principal, a pillar in the Anglican Community. The Independent Court vindicated her and it was wonderful to read the judgement to see over the 62 pages at various points of her vindication and where the court said they accept the evidence of Ms. Findlay in relation to this and that and so on and so forth.”

Electoral Officials say the Unity Labour Party was returned to a fourth consecutive term in office, by winning eight of the 15 parliamentary seats.

However, the NDP challenged the results in North Windward and Central leeward, two of the seats in which the ULP was declared to be the winner.
