Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, while calling in to the Issues at Hand program aired on Sundays on WeFM, provided an update on incoming vaccines from India and the COVAX facility.

“Hopefully in another week, the generous gift from the Indian Government, of 40,000 CoviShield vaccines, which is the AstraZeneca vaccine, from India, should arrive in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Indian Government you know had given Barbados and Dominica, and out of that we got 5,000.” Gonsalves said.

Other countries which are to receive vaccines from India include: Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts & Nevis, and St. Lucia.

Prime Minister Gonsalves also disclosed that by early March vaccine doses from the COVAX facility are also expected to arrive. A total of 11,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines is expected to be delivered by the COVAX facility at that point.
