Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has dismissed as untrue, claims by President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Teacher’s Union, Mr. Oswald Robinson of a 40% success in yesterday’s strike action.
Speaking on a local radio station this morning, Prime Minister Gonsalves said that based on statistics received from the Ministry of Education, of the 61 primary schools contacted by the Ministry, 85% of the teachers turned up for school.
Dr. Gonsalves noted that if the figures from the Secondary schools are taken into consideration, then the absenteeism level will be less than 20%.
