The Fisheries Division in the Ministry of Agriculture is reminding the General public that the lobster season is currently closed from May 1, 2017, to August 31, 2017.

During the close season persons are prohibited from having lobsters in their possession. Persons are also prohibited from fishing, selling, purchasing or harming lobsters during this period.

The Fisheries Division is reminding hotels and restaurants that they have a grace period of the first 30 days of the beginning of the close season of lobster which is from May 1 to 30, to get rid of any lobsters you may have in stock.

If persons fail to adhere to this regulation you can be fined up to $5,000.

The general public is also strongly advised to desist from the buying or selling of lobsters, conch and fish on the streets for health reasons.

The Fisheries Division encourages the general public to report all incidences to the Division or the Police Station in your area, of any person or establishment found in contravention of the regulations.
