A call has been made for more persons in St. Vincent and the Grenadines to become voluntary blood donors.

This appeal came from Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Robert Luke Browne as he addressed a ceremony yesterday for the official commissioning of the Ministry’s Mobile Blood Bank.

Minister Browne said various emergency situations can arise that could result in damage and blood loss, therefore resulting in a need for blood transfusion.

Meanwhile, Ms. Kamarla Questelles, Medical Technologist at the Pathology Laboratory at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital said persons can donate blood every three months.

She said that over the coming weeks, they will be conducting educational activities to sensitize members of the public about the importance of becoming blood donors.
