The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) says it is preparing for a United Nations’ High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage in the region.

According to CMC News, PAHO said the meeting — “Universal Health Coverage: Moving Together to Build a Healthier World”, will mobilise political support at the “highest-level” to ensure that all people receive the health care and protection they need.

PAHO said its delegation, which will be led by its director Dr Carissa F Etienne, “will contribute the vast experience of the organisation in working towards universal health in the region.”

Dr Etienne stated that “Not only does PAHO advocate for the principle of universal health coverage, but they also call for concrete policy development and implementation to break down the persistent barriers that prevent people from receiving access to comprehensive health care.”
