Over 50-thousand EC dollars in pledges were raised on Sunday, during a Radiothon involving several local Radio Stations, which came together to raise funds for the Dominica Relief Effort.
General Manager of NBC Radio, Corletha Ollivierre says a total of 53,324 EC dollars was pledged by callers.
Ollivierre says she has been in discussions with the Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines with a view to having a window to accommodate persons making deposits.
She noted that the funds raised will be channeled directly to the relief agency in Dominica, and added that she expects that persons who did not want to go public with their contributions will also deposit to the account so it is highly likely that there will be an increase in the amounts pledged on Sunday.
