The Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) has confirmed that over 100 workers from the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) are to be cut by the end of the month.

This latest development comes following a seven hour meeting between the two sides at the CBC headquarters in The Pine, St. Michael on Monday.

According to the Barbados Nation News, BWU general secretary Toni Moore told the media the union has successfully negotiated on behalf of several positions, which would see around a dozen employees spared termination.

While noting this was a “drop in the bucket” when compared to the initial plan by CBC to terminate 166 of its 230 staff, Moore explained that the union had ensured due process was followed.
