The Opposition New Democratic Party (NDP) today filed a motion of no confidence in the ruling Unity Labour Party (ULP) government, lead by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.

Leader of the Opposition and President of the NDP, Dr. Godwin Friday presented a notice of the motion of no confidence to Speaker of the House of Assembly, Senator Jomo Thomas, in Parliament, this morning.

Prior to informing the House Speaker of the Motion, Dr. Friday had expressed disapproval with the failure of Minister of Finance Camillio Gonsalves to make a public statement in relation to the issue relating to Yugge Farrell, a young aspiring model who was sent to the Mental Health Center this month for an evaluation.

The opposition then engaged in a walk out of Parliament, thereby boycotting the presentation of the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure by Minister Gonsalves.
