One man was killed when two Grenadian vessels collided off Trinidad and Tobago early yesterday morning.

According to a statement from the Grenada government, a second person sustained serious injuries in the collision and had to undergo emergency surgery in Trinidad.

The accident reportedly occurred around 1:00 am, as the Mary G, a Grenadian-registered schooner which encountered difficulties en route to Trinidad and Tobago, was being assisted by another schooner, the Ocean Princess.

According to Caribbean 360 News, details surrounding the incident are sketchy but, the Grenada government said it was working closely with Trinidadian authorities to ensure a proper investigation is conducted.
