The Office of the Director Of Public Prosecutions this morning, officially launched the National Prosecution Service.

The launch of the NPS which was held at the Assembly Chamber in Kingstown, serves as the new face of the Office of the director of Public Prosecutions.

Over the years, the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions has functioned under changing leadership and support staff.

Delivering remarks at this morning’s launch, High Court Judge, Justice Brian Cottle said without a proper functioning criminal justice system here – we will be exposed to the rule of the strong and subject to the wims of the wicked.

Justice Cottle lauded that there will be no protection of persons or property- adding that although the vast majority of Vincentians are law abiding, there is a criminal element that exists, that must not control the social narrative that exists on these shores.

Meanwhile Rene Baptiste, head of the SVG Bar Association complimented the office of the DPP for the official launch of the NPS. Baptiste commended the Now Honorable Justice Colin Williams, who was appointed a judge in Belize in 2018- for establishing such an initiative four years ago.

The NPS reflects the enhancements in programs, policies, protocols and principles that have taken effect over the last decade and projects that will futuristically transform the organization.

The launch of this morning’s National Prosecution Service was held under the theme Speak UP.
